Home » Football NewsGridiron Rivalry ReturnsAugust 14, 2008 By iHigh Staff of Hc High SchoolGridiron Rivalry Revelry Returns 2008 Great American Rivalry Series With the start of a new football season comes the return of the much-anticipated Great American Rivalry Series split into two divisions this season; the American Division presented by the US Marine Corps and the National Division presented by the United States Air Force. The fifth annual Series, created to showcase top high school football rivalries across the nation, will kick off on Friday, August 29 and continue through November with 44 can't miss games being played. This is high school football at its best. As part of the Series, the winning team earns bragging rights along with the coveted title of "2008 Great American Rivalry Champion" and is presented with the Champion's Trophy. A "Most Valuable Player" is also recognized, and the Series creator, iHigh Incorporated awards the top student athlete from each school a college scholarship. The Great American Rivalry Seriesâ emerged from a desire to celebrate the cultural phenomenon of Friday night high school football.
